This Disclaimer applies to barcheck.ai, app.barcheck.ai, the BarCheck web application, the free BarScan tool, the BarCheck WordPress plugin, any BarCheck browser extension, all reports and deliverables, and all other BarCheck services (the “Service”). It supplements, and is incorporated into, the BarCheck Terms of Service. Capitalized terms have the meanings given in the Terms of Service.
- Not Legal Advice
BarCheck is an automated screening and workflow tool. Everything it returns — findings, rule references, severity ratings, coverage labels, suggested rewrites, scores, summaries, reports, and audits (“Output”) — is general information generated by software. It is not legal advice, a legal opinion, an ethics opinion, a compliance determination, or a recommendation about any specific situation, and it must not be treated or presented as any of those things.
- Not a Law Firm; No Attorney-Client Relationship
Scylla Technologies is not a law firm and does not practice law. No attorney-client relationship is created between you and Scylla Technologies, its owners, employees, contractors, or agents by using the Service, submitting content, receiving Output, or communicating with us. No one at Scylla Technologies is acting as your attorney or as your clients’ attorney.
- No Confidentiality or Privilege
Content submitted to the Service is not protected by the attorney-client privilege, the work-product doctrine, or any other evidentiary privilege by reason of its submission, and submission may waive protections that would otherwise apply. Do not submit privileged communications, client confidences, protected health information, or other sensitive personal information. BarCheck is intended for advertising and marketing content that is published or intended for publication.
- No Affiliation With Any Bar, Court, or Regulator
Scylla Technologies and BarCheck are independent and are not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, licensed by, accredited by, certified by, or approved by any state bar, bar association, disciplinary authority, court, regulatory body, or the American Bar Association. References to rules, model rules, jurisdictions, or regulators are descriptive only. No Output constitutes an approval, certification, or safe harbor of any kind, and no regulator has reviewed or endorsed the Service.
- Automated Output Can Be Wrong
The Service uses automated systems, including artificial-intelligence models, that are probabilistic by nature. Output may be incomplete, over-inclusive, under-inclusive, outdated, or simply incorrect; may cite, quote, or characterize a rule inaccurately; may miss a violation entirely; and may return different results for the same content at different times.
Verify every citation, quotation, and rewrite against the current official published rule text before relying on it or publishing content based on it. A qualified human professional must review the content and the Output before publication.
- “Pass” Does Not Mean Compliant
A result of “pass,” “no findings,” “no violations,” “clean,” or similar means only that the automated scan did not flag an issue against the reference materials then in use for the selected jurisdiction. It is not a determination, opinion, certification, guarantee, or assurance that content complies with any rule, statute, or law, and it does not mean no violation exists. Using BarCheck does not guarantee compliance and does not prevent a grievance, complaint, investigation, discipline, sanction, penalty, or claim.
- Coverage Is Limited and Changes
Coverage differs by jurisdiction and is labeled on every report. Jurisdictions outside the verified tier are screened against a general model-rules baseline, and state-specific requirements — including filing, labeling, retention, and disclosure regimes — may not be evaluated. Rules and their interpretations change, sometimes without notice, and there will be periods during which the Service’s reference materials do not reflect a change. Coverage labels, badges, tier names, and state counts describe the internal status of BarCheck’s reference materials only, not the law and not your content. Scylla Technologies may change or remove coverage of any jurisdiction, rule, or feature at any time.
- Accuracy Reviews Are Not Certifications
Accuracy Reviews return automated observations about statements in a submitted article based on sources available at the time. They are not fact-checking certifications, verification services, editorial approvals, or professional opinions of any kind. They may miss inaccurate statements and may flag accurate ones. You remain solely responsible for the truth, substantiation, and legality of everything you publish.
- Your Responsibility
You are solely responsible for the content you publish and for its compliance with all applicable rules of professional conduct, bar advertising and solicitation rules, statutes, regulations, filing requirements, and platform policies in every jurisdiction where your content is published, directed, or accessible. If you are a licensed attorney, those professional obligations remain entirely yours and cannot be delegated to software. If you are an agency or consultant, you are responsible for ensuring appropriate licensed counsel reviews content where legal review is required or prudent, and for making clear to your clients that BarCheck output is not legal advice.
- No Reliance by Third Parties
Output is provided solely for the BarCheck account holder that requested it. No other person — including your clients, their clients, opposing parties, or the public — may rely on Output, and Scylla Technologies owes no duty to any such person. Output must not be republished, distributed, or presented as a compliance certification or as evidence of compliance.
- Testimonials, Examples, and Performance Statements
Testimonials, quotes, screenshots, sample findings, scan times, and other examples shown on our website or in our materials are illustrative. They reflect specific experiences and are not a guarantee that you will get the same or similar results. Individuals featured in testimonials may be customers of Scylla Technologies or may have received a benefit in connection with their statement. Sample content is fictional unless expressly stated otherwise, and any resemblance to a real firm or advertisement is coincidental. Feature descriptions, statistics, and pricing may change without notice.
- Third-Party Content and Links
The Service accesses, processes, and may link to third-party websites, sources, and materials. Scylla Technologies does not control, verify, endorse, or take responsibility for third-party content or for the availability or performance of third-party services.
- No Warranties; Limitation of Liability
The Service and all Output are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express, implied, or statutory. Scylla Technologies’ liability is disclaimed and capped as set out in the Terms of Service, including the exclusion of liability for any grievance, disciplinary proceeding, sanction, fine, penalty, malpractice or advertising-injury claim, or lost profits or goodwill.

The Service is offered from the United States and is intended for use in the United States only. It is not offered or directed to users outside the United States, and it does not evaluate content against the advertising, professional-conduct, or data-protection requirements of any non-U.S. jurisdiction. We make no representation that the Service or any Output is appropriate, available, or lawful for use in any other country.
